COVID – 19 update
8th February, 2021 Category: Latest News

The exceptionally difficult times, created by the Covid-19 pandemic continue and although in the Autumn, there was some return to normality, the third lockdown has had significant impact on the delivery of healthcare, particularly in the North West.

As a consequence, Professor Brownson has had to adapt his timetable and once again, this has impacted on patient care, for which he apologises sincerely.

Professor Brownson’s timetable has been amended to incorporate helping his colleagues at Aintree Hospital with maintaining emergency patient services, including providing ‘proning teams’ for the intensive care unit. These teams are responsible for twice daily turning the ventilated Covid positive patients from supine to prone and vice versa.

Professor Brownson is endeavouring to provide continuity of care for his patients at Spire Liverpool Hospital. Face to face consultations are possible (unless patients are isolating, in which case telephone consultation or video consultation can be arranged).

In view of these timetable changes together with increased Liverpool University commitments, Professor Brownson has reluctantly taken the decision to stop his clinic at Nuffield Chester Hospital at least for the foreseeable future and to focus his clinical activities at Spire Liverpool hospital and Liverpool University Hospitals NHS FT.
